Hey, Beatles: They say it’s your birthday. We’re gonna have a good time!

Shocking though it may seem, the Fab Four are turning 50 this year. In August 1960, the lads from Liverpool changed their name from “The Silver Beetles” to “The Beatles.” The rest is history.

In a new slide show on Bing Travel, we pay tribute to the birth of The Beatles and destinations worldwide that can help you celebrate.

“My favorite Beatles destination is the walk through pop's greatest singles, from ‘Penny Lane’ to ‘Strawberry Fields,’ ” said Glenn Gass, an Indiana University professor who’s been teaching Beatles courses since 1982. On Penny Lane, you can still see “the shelter in the middle of a roundabout,” as well as the bank and barbershop mentioned in the song. At Strawberry Field, adoring fans can still leave flowers and tributes at the iconic red gates.

Traveling Beatles fans can also check out The Beatles Story, a Liverpool museum; Rishikesh, India, where the group turned to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi as their guru; and “The Beatles Love,” Cirque du Soleil’s razzle-dazzle Las Vegas tribute complete with a Beatles soundtrack. As The Beatles sang in “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!,” “a splendid time is guaranteed for all.”
